PATIENCE Literature for Composition 14A-43 December 12, 2011 Kate Chopins piddling boloney Ripe Figs are presented with cardinal main characters Babette and Maman Nainaine. This narrative is about metre and patience. Babette and Maman Nainaine measures time truly differently. We are presented with 2 characters that stand in sharp contrast to one whatsoever other; Babette is an agitated child, Maman Nainaine is a patient woman. I genuinely moot that patience tell apart within time. Babette is portray as a rather impatient young girl. For instance, Maman Nainaine tells her that she may visit her cousins when the figs hurt ripened. For Babette, this seems a very vast time to sojourn; for the leaves upon the trees are tender yet, and the figs are like hard, park marbles. From this description, we coffin nail happen upon that Babette is asked to wait a very long time, and cleanly for her, this seems far-off too long of a time to wait. To further accent h er impatience, the narrator tells us, every twenty-four hours Babette danced out to where the fig-trees were in on line against a fencing and that each time she became begrimed again. Although she knew shed have to wait a very long time, she still cannot sojourn herself from checking each day, almost as though she thinks she can pull nature to speed up.

Finally, when the figs have finally ripened, she tells Maman Nainaine that she feels they have ripened la! te this year. However, as we shall see her older, wiser protector clearly feels otherwise. Often impatience can have this order on us; it makes us feel that tine moves slowly. For all these reasons, it is clear that patience is not Babettes strongest point. In contrast to Babette, Maman Nainaine is very patient.
